NVSL "A" Meets

Competitive "A" meets are held on Saturday mornings and are subject to NVSL rules. The coach, guided by times and strategic considerations, carefully selects which swimmers compete in which events.

When available, meet sheets and results will be posted on the "resources" page.

"B" Meets

Recreational "B" meets are held on Monday evenings, and everyone is encouraged to participate.

Each swimmer can sign up for two individual events plus the individual medley (IM). For any event where the swimmer placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the prior "A" meet, they cannot swim those events in that week's "B" meet.

Relay Carnivals

Divisional Relay Carnival  |  Each NVSL Division conducts a Divisional Relay Carnival on a Wednesday evening during the season. The coaches select the relay teams (one per event) in each age group. Teams compete for team points and the Divisional relay trophy.

All-Star Relay Carnival  |  The NVSL conducts an All-Star Relay Carnival, in which the eighteen fastest relay teams compete NVSL-wide. The fastest teams are selected based on the results of Divisional Relay Carnivals.

Mini Meet

The Mini Meet is a special event for ten-year-old and under swimmers only. There are separate events for each age—7-year-olds swim against 7-year-olds, 8-year-olds swim against 8-year-olds, etc. Special ribbons are awarded to each swimmer in every heat, and the top three finishers in each event receive a medal. There is also a special kickboard event for the youngest beginners.

Divisionals

Divisionals allow the fastest swimmers in each NVSL Division to compete against each other. Unlike dual meets, Divisionals are not scored, and the swimmers compete for individual honors. Divisionals are also the qualifying meet for the Individual All-Stars. They are held on the Saturday after the division’s Saturday dual meets conclude.

All-Stars

The fastest 18 swimmers (based on times from league-wide Divisional meets) in each event are chosen for the All-Star meet, held on the Saturday after Divisionals.

Inclement Weather

At the first sign of lightning or sound of thunder, the meet will be suspended. Everyone must go to a vehicle in the parking lot. We wait 30 minutes from the last thunder/lightning before calling people back, ensuring everyone's safety. The meet is also suspended if rain is so heavy that we can’t see the bottom of the pool.
