Position Title: Winter Swim Junior Coach

Payment: $15 per hour

Job Description

Holmes Run Acres Recreation Association seeks three Junior Coaches for the Hurricanes Winter Swim Program. The Junior Coaches will assist a Head Coach in providing quality coaching/instruction to approximately 25-30 swimmers between the ages of 5 and 10.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach with weekly practices
• Follow all instructions and set/interval plans from the Head Coach
• Monitor and assess swimmers' skills, providing feedback to help them improve
• Exhibit exemplary sportsmanship, clean language, and encouragement to all swimmers
• Be prepared to help “in the water" with stroke/skill demonstrations, etc., when required
• Commit to the full session (33 weeks), arriving at all practices on time

Qualifications

• Must be age 16+ and, if hired, provide a copy of a birth certificate or other proof of age
• Proficient in all four (4) competitive strokes
• Previous experience working with young swimmers (e.g., as a junior coach, lane leader, or swim lesson instructor)

Location and Dates

• Providence RECenter, 7525 Marc Dr, Falls Church, VA 22042
• Sunday, 6-7 pm; September 7, 2024 – May 17, 2025 (33 weeks)
• There will be NO practice on: 11/30, 12/28, 1/4, and 4/5. If the RECenter is closed due to weather conditions, we will communicate that to you ASAP.
