End-of-Season Recap ✨ Thank You & What’s Next!
Dear Hurricane and Tropical Storm Families,
Before we get into all the fun end-of-season details, we want to take a moment to say THANK YOU. Your generosity meant the world to us, and we truly can’t thank you enough for your support throughout the season.
Divisionals Recap
Divisionals was a scorcher, but that didn’t stop the energy, the cheers, or the fast swims! Our team showed up ready to race, and we couldn’t have been prouder of the effort, spirit, and sportsmanship on display.
🎉 Special shout-out to Olive Dunn for breaking the HRA 13–14 Girls 50M Backstroke record—again! Incredible job, Olive!
🌟 We also had several swimmers qualify for NVSL Individual All Stars. Congratulations to Thomas Sites, Olive Dunn, Grace Beck, Nhien Dinh, and Maeve Gannon!
Want to see full results? They’re posted on the Resources page of the team website.
Banquet Highlights
Just when we thought we’d have a relaxing evening outdoors, the weather had other plans. But in true Hurricane fashion, everyone pitched in, pivoted, and pulled it off—especially our banquet heroes, Megan and Doug Zebrak. Thank you!
A standing ovation for Marcus Bleech and Mary Cunningham for the amazing slideshow—it was a beautiful way to relive all the best moments of the season!
If you missed the banquet:
- 🏆 Trophies for swimmers who swam legally in an A meet are next to the ribbons folder.
- 🏅 Medals for Tropical Storm swimmers and others will be placed in folders in the upper pool house. Just let us know.
There are a ton of ribbons in the folder box, including Divisionals ribbons. Make sure to grab them next time you’re at the pool. There are also prints of the team picture in the Team Rep folder—first come, first serve!
Photos
We want to thank our fantastic team photographer, Mary Cunningham, for capturing the fun this summer. Links to both the 2025 Slide Show and photos from the season will be posted on the Resources page of the team website.
Winter Swim
We’re planning our regular HRARA Winter Swim Program, which will be held at Providence ReCenter on Sunday evenings (the exact start date and time will be shared soon). This developmental program is designed for swimmers ages 5–10 and focuses on stroke technique, flip turns and starts, and building endurance.
Swimmers must be able to swim unassisted across the pool (25 yards) to join. As soon as the dates and registration link are confirmed, we’ll send an update with all the details!
If your swimmer needs further development before they can swim unassisted, consider group or private lessons at RECenter, Goldfish, Big Blue, or Kids First.
For advanced training, club teams like NCAP, FISH, VLAC, and Fairfax Foxes are options. Research to find the best fit, and remember—stay active, stay in the water, and stay excited about swimming!
Thank You!
Thank you all for a season full of spirit, laughter, teamwork, and fun. We’re already looking forward to next year!
A huge thank you to all our incredible volunteers this season—especially those who went above and beyond their duties. We truly couldn’t run meets without you. We urgently need more certified volunteers in roles like Stroke & Turn—without these officials, there are no meets! Many of our current certified volunteers have older swimmers who will soon be aging out, so we especially encourage families with younger swimmers to consider one of these vital roles next season.
And hey—maybe you could be our next Swim Team Rep!
Until then, enjoy the rest of your summer!
❤️🖤
