Hello Hurricanes!

Our next ‘A’ meet is taking place this Saturday, and we are going to Burke Station. We have a couple of fun events tomorrow to help us get energized!

PANCAKE BREAKFAST IS ON FOR TOMORROW!

We’ll be flipping pancakes to serve after practice ends Friday at 10a. All Hurricanes, Tropical Storms, parents and siblings are welcome to join us. The team will provide the pancakes (and fixins). This is an annual tradition and a lot of fun!

POTLUCK & PEP RALLY | FINGER FOODS

Join us Friday at 6p to fuel up and get excited for the upcoming meet! Be sure to check the Potluck Event for your food assignments and all the details. Our 13+ swimmers will lead the Pep Rally! They’ll teach the younger swimmers the cheers and help get everyone pumped up for the Saturday morning meet.

The meet sheet is ready! It is also avilabe on the Resources page of the team website. 

Please review the meet sheet carefully for your swimmer(s) name(s). We have some swim-ups for this meet so you may find your swimmer(s) in an older age group. If your swimmer(s) weren’t selected to swim Saturday, we welcome you to come and cheer on the team! Stay tuned for more details regarding the next ‘B’ meet.

The order of events will be freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and finishing with relays. Swimmers will cheer for their teammates from the team area, and coaches will direct them to the Clerk of Course benches when it’s time for their events.

SWIMMER AND VOLUNTEER TIMING

• 8:00a: Swimmers arrive; HRA warm-ups begin at 8:20a
• 8:20a: Marshal in place for warm-ups
• 8:30a: Officials and Timers arrive and ready for briefings
• 9:00a: Meet begins

Burke Station is known for their post-meet dancing and would love it if we joined them on the deck for the Cha-Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, etc.

PARKING
Parking is limited. Overflow parking can be found in the neighborhood and at the VRE Station across Rolling Road. If parking in the VRE lot, please be careful crossing Rolling Road. If parking in the neighborhood, please respect all signs and driveways.

TEAM AND SPECTATOR AREAS
Our team will have the grassy area next to the wading pool. There will be a decent amount of shade in that section for much of the meet. We cannot place any of the pool chairs/loungers in the grassy area, so make sure to bring a chair for your swimmer(s) (and bug spray!).

Spectators are welcome inside the pool gate on the upper deck of the pool and in the wooded area on the right side by our team area. They strongly encourage us to bring our own chairs.

Remember, no caps with logos other than HRA, and no tie-back suits! Let us know if you have a new swimmer, and we will bring them a cap to the meet.

CONCESSIONS
Burke Station will have the usual breakfast and lunch fare, such as breakfast burritos, bagels, muffins, hamburgers, hot dogs, traveling tacos, various drinks, carnival-style popcorn, chips, snow cones, candy, etc. They accept cash and credit/apple pay/google pay ($5.00 minimum), so come hungry!
