Time Trials - Saturday, June 7 at 8:30a
Hello Hurricanes!
Time trials are taking place this Saturday, and we will be hosting our friends from Woodley. This means more fun, but also more swimmers, more heats, and therefore more time. We will do our best to keep things moving, which means only entering swimmers in events we are confident they can swim legally.
NOTE: this meet is for Hurricanes only, Tropical Storms will begin practices June 16th.
Time Trials | Saturday, June 7, 8:30a
7:20a: All swimmers should be on deck in the team area
7:30a: HRA Warm-ups begin
Our main goal this weekend is to introduce new swimmers and volunteers to the structure and flow of a swim meet and to collect accurate times for the upcoming competitive A Meet. If your swimmer is NOT legal in a stroke, they will not be swimming that stroke in Time Trials. The coaches will review the final event entries and make any necessary adjustments.
The order of events will be freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Swimmers will hang out in the team area and the coaches will hand them their timecards and direct them to the Clerk of Course benches when it is time for their event. You are welcome to leave after your swimmer has completed their events, as long as your volunteer position does not keep you there longer. We are hoping the meet will be finished around 11a-12p.
If you have not already done so, please log in to RSVP/Sign Up by 10a on Thursday.
Please only enter your swimmer in events for which you are certain they are legal; if you are unsure, have them check with a coach. There will be opportunities at future B meets for swimmers to get times in other strokes as they learn them.
Volunteers
There are still openings for volunteers to help at Time Trials! Swim meets are 100% volunteer-run and cannot happen without your help. Please reach out to Volunteer Coordinator, Linnea Kessler-Gowell ([email protected]), if you’re not sure what position will be a good fit for you and she can help!
What to Wear and Bring
Please refer to the FAQs page on the website to see details on what to wear and bring to the meet (“Meets” section). https://hrahurricanes.swimtopia.com/faqs
Parking and Facilities
The parking lot is reserved for the visiting team and those who need to park close. Our team should walk to the pool or park on nearby streets (and please respect our neighbors) or at Woodburn Elementary School. The upper pool, basketball, ping-pong/foosball, playground, baby pool, etc, are off-limits to all swim team members during the meet, even if they are done swimming. The baby pool is always closed during morning meets until the facilities open to members at 11a.
Come Hungry!
The Hurricane Café (our snack bar) will be serving breakfast foods, snacks and beverages. The swim team receives all profits from concessions sales.
